The reverse bears seated allegorical figure representing Democracy, holding starred sphere in her raised left hand, right hand supporting table of law, face upturned at the words PVBLIC OFFICE / A PVBLIC TRVST. Background depicts public building with pillars, monumental column with eagle perching on top, and oak trees. Below, * PRESIDENT * / MDCCCLXXXV * MDCCCLXXXXIII; at left bottom, signed J E ROINÉ
This medal was issued to commemorate the life and works of Grover Cleveland (1837-1908), the 22nd President of the United States. He was an immensely popular President who won the popular vote three times though that was only sufficient to elect him President twice. This achievement was all the more remarkable because he was running as a Democrat in a time of Republican dominance.
This medal was the 22nd official issue of the American Numismatic Society.
The rectangular medal measures 78mm x 89mm and was struck by the Medallic Art Company of New York. The reported mintage is 2 pieces in gold, 50 in silver and 100 in bronze.

The medal's obverse bears portrait of Charles Darwin, facing left.
The reverse bears giant tortoise.
Charles Darwin was the 119th issue in the prestigious Society of Medalists series. Moss was the first non-American sculptor to be admitted into the ranks of Society of Medalists medalists.
According to Moss, the creation of this medal began in 1982 and was inspired by the anniversary of Charles Darwin's voyage aboard HMS Beagle. Moss first crafted the Darwin portrait in clay with "an earthy fossil-like character, and then when I made a cast in plaster the relief took on a bony quality." She was fascinated by the Giant Tortoise and its relation to Darwin. Moss wanted her medal to portray the strength in both man and beast. The result was a bold contrast between a crude and unfinished-looking portrait and a polished tortoise on finished field.
The medal measures 55mm x 73mm and was produced by the Medallic Art Company of Danbury, Connecticut. The edition was limited to 2,500 pieces but the actual mintage is unknown.

The medal's obverse bears bearded face. Around top, NORGE 1977
The medal's reverse bears a flat fish.
This is the only medal knwon to have been created by Reidar. His mother was born in Northern Norway, so thatm ay have influenced his choice of country. A man who wore an impressive beard himself, he liked bearded and moustached men and even wrote poems to the "Grey bearded men of Russia." The face on the medal obverse could be a self-portrait of a portrayal of an iconic figure. It is possible that the fish on the reverse symbolizes something about Reidar, although exactly what remains a mystery.
The roughly circular medal measures 70mm in diameter and was struck at Kultateollisuus Finland.

This medal's obverse bears the seal of New York City. Around, · INTERNATIONAL ···· PHILATELIC · EXHIBITION · NEW · YORK · / MCMXIII; signed over roman year numerals, MAX BACHMANN.
The reverse bears a palm frond at left. On right side, AWARDED / TO / (cartouche) / FOR / (cartouche) / MCMXIII
Max Bachman also created a souvenir medal for the Exhibition's official banquet which was held on October 30, 1913. It shares this medal's obverse but has a different legend on the reverse.
The circular medals measure 41mm in diameter. I have seen both a silver and a gold award medal from this event. I assume that bronzes were struck as well but I do not know this for sure. No mintages are reprorted.

The medal's obverse bears a nude male figure, maybe Hercules, wrestling a powerful steer by the horns.
The medal's reverse bears perched eagle before diminuitive buildings. Across lower half, ALLEN GEWALTEN ZUM / TRUTZ SICH ERHALTEN / NIMMER SICH BEUGEN / KRÄFTIG SICH ZEIGEN / RUFET DIE ARME / DER GOETTER / HERBEI; signed above exergue, R BOSSELT
The poem on the reverse is the second verse of Goethe's "Cowardly Thoughts." While the first verse lists negative behaviors resulting in disaster, the second verse provides positive patterns. It translates roughly to:
To persist, despite all powers arrayed against you,
to never bow down,
to always show strength,
will raise the arms of the gods on your behalf.
This is a beautiful and relatively rare medal. The interplay between the dark patina and the modeling of the muscles gives the medal an unusual depth. The medal was used as an award by the German section at the International Exhibition in Brussels in 1910. Bosselt seemed to be en vogue at that time. His Athena graced the reverse of the American Numismatic Society's medal in the same year.
The circular medal measures 65mm in diameter and was struck in bronze by the Carl Poellath Company of Schrobenhausen, Germany.
